| This board heats, and if you want melts, electrically conductive and above all ferromagnetic materials, using a ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching) circuit rated 1,000 W, which can be pushed to 1,500 under certain conditions. Besides heating and melting metals, the circuit lends itself to other interesting applications, such as transmitting energy through the air with coupled coils tuned to the resonant frequency (wireless power) and driver circuits for Tesla coils. |

How to use it

| The circuit must be fed with a DC voltage between 10 and 48 V from a supply of adequate power; if you apply the maximum rated voltage of 48 Vdc, we recommend a power supply of no less than 1,500 W. Fit the positive and negative wires of the power supply into the terminal block, checking the polarity carefully, and tighten the screws.Power the circuit between the + and – terminals and check that the green LED LD1 lights up, showing that the input voltage is present. At this point the resonant current, at about 100 kHz, is flowing in the work coil. With the maximum rated voltage applied (48 Vdc) and no metal object inside the work coil, the power draw is below 500 W; once a conductor is introduced, depending on its material, size, shape and position, the power drawn can vary a great deal, up to a maximum of 1,500 W. Once you have chosen the conductive object to place in the work coil, a metal screw for instance, grip it and hold it in position with pliers (which must not come too close to the turns) so that you do not burn yourself. |

| Insert the conductor slowly into the work coil, taking care not to let it touch the walls of the winding. Keep the conductor upright inside the work coil. The conductor you insert acts as the secondary of a transformer whose primary is the work coil and, being inside a solenoid, the conductive material is cut by the magnetic field lines far more intensely than it would be outside the solenoid.
In a short time the material inserted heats up through the Joule effect and changes colour, taking on the typical orange-yellow tints of incandescence. This state can be held for a few tens of seconds, but bear in mind that the temperature climbs a long way, so take particular care not to touch the conductor, the work coil or the heatsinks directly, to avoid burns. Note that after a few minutes of using the ZVS Induction Heater the work coil winding will start to darken, until it is almost black from the heat generated, but this does not stop it working. |
