Description

The CCT2500 dashcam is a dashboard camera for anyone who wants an extra eye on the road and, when needed, inside the cabin as well. Its two independent lenses record at the same time what happens in front of the vehicle in Full HD 1080p and what happens inside it in 480p, giving the complete coverage that is useful both after an accident and for keeping watch on passenger transport.

Made for private motorists, transport professionals, taxi drivers and private-hire drivers, the CCT2500 packs into a compact body (76×61×47 mm, 290 grams) a gravity sensor, a 2 inch IPS screen, an omnidirectional microphone, a speaker and a set of four infrared LEDs for night vision inside the cabin. It mounts on the windscreen with a suction cup and is powered by the 12V adapter with USB-C cable already included in the box.

Main features

Recording starts automatically the moment the vehicle engine is switched on and stops when it is switched off, saving the footage on the microSD card (up to 64 GB, not included) in segments you can set to 3, 5 or 10 minutes. When the card is full, the recorder works in loop mode, overwriting the oldest files first, so the memory never needs managing by hand. Front and interior footage is stored in separate folders (VIDEOA and VIDEOB) so it is quick to find.

The built-in G-sensor accelerometer is the heart of the safety function: in a collision or under heavy braking it automatically locks the file being recorded — from 5 seconds before the event to 10 seconds after it — and marks it as protected, so the recording loop cannot overwrite it. The sensitivity of the sensor can be set from the menu to suit the type of vehicle and the driving style. Alongside the G-sensor there is also a manual lock (one-touch lock) that a button triggers while recording.

The front camera has a 1.3 megapixel CMOS sensor with a wide-angle 120° lens, while the interior one, at 0.3 megapixel, covers a 90° angle and sits beside four infrared LEDs, switched on from their own button, for filming in poor light. The 2 inch IPS screen lets you frame the shot in real time, work through the menu and play the footage back on the device itself, with no need to connect it to a PC.

Practical applications

The CCT-2500 is used in everyday private motoring as a way of documenting an accident — video recordings are accepted as evidence in a number of European countries, Italy among them — but it is just as useful professionally. Taxi, private-hire, car-sharing and disabled-transport drivers find in the interior camera a way of protecting themselves and of checking what went on in the cabin. Companies running fleets can use it for accident monitoring and driver training, while parking monitor mode, which starts recording automatically if it feels a vibration with the engine off, extends that protection to unattended car parks as well. Motion detection mode also lets it start capturing only when something moves in the frame, which saves space on the card.
