MICROUVAIR is a closed-cycle forced-ventilation air sanitising system based on UVC LEDs.
The incoming air is purified through a high-density mechanical filter (30 PPI), then sterilised by the ultraviolet light emitted by UVC LEDs able to deliver the strongest germicidal action. The sanitised air is then filtered again by a high-density mechanical filter and returned to the room

HOW ULTRAVIOLET WORKS
 

UV-C has long been known for its disinfecting action against pathogens (not by chance, a joint study by the University of Milan, the Institute of Astrophysics and the Cancer Institute on the link between sun exposure -and therefore UV- and the spread of COVID-19 infection was published recently) and it has been widely used for over 40 years to disinfect drinking water, waste water, air, pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments (and dental instruments) and surfaces against a wide range of human pathogens.
All the bacteria and viruses tested (many hundreds over the years, including recent viruses) respond to UV-C disinfection (and to UV-B as well, in truth), meaning that they are knocked down by exposure to that radiation. Some organisms have proved more sensitive to UV-C disinfection than others, but every test carried out so far responds to the appropriate doses.

According to the International Ultraviolet Association (https://iuva.org), the ultraviolet spectrum matching the sterilising ability is around 200-300nm and therefore very narrow; to be precise, the germicidal range runs between 280 nm and 300 nm. In theory the wavelength of 265
nm is considered the best one, because it matches the peak of the DNA/RNA absorption curve: most peaks for viruses and bacteria are around 265 nm. This explains why a single wavelength can be used to kill all bacteria, even though each family has different optimal absorption wavelengths. Generally, power intensity, wavelength and irradiation time are used to determine the germicidal effect. For example, water can hold several bacteria with different optimal absorption wavelengths. For any given germicidal UV wavelength, the power and the irradiation time needed to reach the desired level of disinfection have to be calculated.
