Description

Built around an Atmel microcontroller programmed to work as a graphics processor and data logger, the Mini SMART GPU has a 1.8" colour graphic display, a slot for micro SD/SDHC cards up to 32 GB (for storing thousands of images and text files; no particular format is required) and a simple, effective UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver - Transmitter) serial interface

Built around an Atmel microcontroller programmed to work as a graphics processor and data logger, the Mini SMART GPU has a 1.8″ colour graphic display, a slot for micro SD/SDHC cards up to 32 GB (for storing thousands of images and text files; no particular format is required) and a simple, effective UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver – Transmitter) serial interface. The Mini SMART GPU makes it easy to create advanced graphical user interfaces (GUIs) without the user needing any experience with LCD displays or graphics algorithms. It needs no configuration or programming: it is a slave device that only receives data, greatly reducing and simplifying code size, complexity and the processing load on the main processor. It supports the FAT / FAT12 / FAT16 / FAT32 formats, compatible with any PC. The UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver – Transmitter) serial interface allows connection to any host microcontroller able to communicate over a serial port (8051, PIC, Atmel, Freescale, STMICRO, ARM, CORTEX, NXP, ARDUINO, Fez Panda, FPGA, MBED, etc.) and to a PC (USB-UART SX serial port). All display functions are sent as simple commands over the USART / UART serial interface.
