Variable-tone Siren – Kit
SKU 7100-FK043EAN 5410329216283Item type: Assembled, KitEducational kits
Description
| This variable-tone siren generator is a simple electronic project, designed for educational and experimental purposes. The circuit reproduces a sound similar to that of historic factory fan sirens, using the well-known 555 timer in astable configuration.
Operation is enabled via a pushbutton, which lets you start sound generation immediately. The board features a trimmer, which lets you increase or reduce the frequency drift, making the sound more wavering and realistic, just like a real siren. The base frequency can be further changed by varying the values of resistors and capacitors, giving you the chance to experiment directly with how the components affect the 555’s behavior. The board can be powered by 4 AA batteries (6 V) or a 5–8 VDC power supply, minimum 300 mA. Soldering required for assembly. The kit is supplied complete with assembly instructions.
