Description

This heart rate sensor uses an infrared (IR) emitter and a receiver to detect pulses from a fingertip. It is designed to monitor heart rate in both patients and athletes.

The sensor’s output signal is approximately 100 mV. Depending on the application, it may be necessary to amplify the signal to suit specific requirements.

The sensor can be easily interfaced with Arduino to build a heart rate monitor. Thanks to its high sensitivity, the sensor offers reliable performance. Its low power consumption also makes it suitable for battery-powered systems, ensuring excellent portability. Power supply: 5Vdc

  • When performing an analog reading, no data is shown on the serial output
    If the connections are correct and the pin declared in the code matches the physical connection, check that the TX and RX sensor are angled correctly so that they are perfectly perpendicular. If necessary, the 5mm LED can be bent as needed. The finger must be placed in direct contact between the two sensors.
  • The reading is unstable, with very different values obtained each time
    This can occur when spliced wires move during measurement. This is mainly due to interference affecting the detection, so it is recommended to implement a low-pass filter to exclude such noise from the measurement, and in any case to remain still while measuring if the external filter has not been applied.
