4-Direction Tilt Sensor

Description

Tilt sensor capable of detecting the direction of movement in four directions: forward, backward, left, and right. Operation is very simple: inside the sensor there are two phototransistors, an LED, and a small ball. By rotating the device, the ball will block the light path of one, the other, or both phototransistors, resulting in four different 1/0 combinations on the contact pins. The integrated circuit RPI-1031 is already soldered onto a breakout board that makes it easier to use since the IC pins are brought out to pads with standard 2.54 mm spacing. The necessary components for operation are also included. This sensor is ideal in cases where you only need to detect the direction of movement and do not need to use a much more expensive accelerometer: for example, in digital photo frames to change the orientation of photos based on the frame’s rotation, or in latest-generation mobile phones. Power supply: 5 Vdc.
