Ultrasonic distance sensor 2 to 450 cm + OUT

Description

Ultrasonic sensor capable of measuring distances between 2 and 450 cm. It consists of two 40 kHz ultrasonic capsules (one transmitter and one receiver) and control electronics. It has five pins: two for power (Vcc and Gnd), one for trigger pulse input (Trig), one for pulse output (Echo), and one output pin (OUT). By providing a positive pulse of 10 µs to the “Trigger” input pin, the sensor generates a train of eight 40 kHz ultrasonic pulses, which are sent via the transmitter capsule toward the obstacle; the receiver capsule detects the echo, and the “Echo” output pin will have a pulse duration from 150 µs (2 cm) to 25 ms (4.5 m) proportional to the object’s distance. If no obstacle is detected within 4.5 m, it produces a pulse of about 38 ms. Compared to the MISDT04 model, it has better accuracy (0.2 cm vs. 0.3 cm) and an “OUT” output that provides a high level at 5V if an obstacle is detected and 0V if not. The formula to calculate distance in cm is: pulse in µs divided by 58, while in inches it is: pulse in µs divided by 148.
