TOF (Time Of Flight) Module with VL6180 Sensor

Breakout board based on Time of Flight technology with the VL6180 sensor

SKU 7100-BREAKOUT017EAN 8219671082563Item type: Assembled,

Description

Breakout board based on Time of Flight technology with the VL6180 sensor. The module tells a microcontroller the distance detected in front of its optical sensor, measured from the flight time of a light pulse.

Please note: the pin strip has to be soldered on.

Technical specifications
  • Measuring method: IR laser pulse time of flight
About breakout boards
Breakout boards are prototyping boards carrying the component of interest already soldered in place, with its connections brought out to the edge of the board on terminations whose pitch and format make them easy to use; the connections are normally 2.54 mm pitch pads, like those of classic DIP integrated circuits. To help those who would like to use SMD parts but do not have the equipment or the skill to solder them, a number of integrated circuits have been selected (sensors, switching regulators, battery chargers, linear amplifiers and so on) and fitted on ready-to-use boards. These breakout boards are useful both to those who want the best of SMD electronics already available in a “traditional” format, and to those who -even though they can work with SMD parts- need those components on prototyping boards, so as to add them to existing circuits and run tests, or to build prototypes that integrate the functions of those chips before committing to the final printed circuit board of a piece of equipment.
