Breakout board based on the LMT84DCKT analog temperature sensor (SOT-23-5 package) and the Microchip MCP6L01T-E/LT operational amplifier, which amplifies the voltage output from the sensor. The voltage gain is 3.857, so at -50°C the output voltage is 5.01 V, while at +150°C the circuit outputs 0.705 V. Power supply: 5 Vdc. The breakout board provides miniature 1.25 mm pitch connectors on the sides for power and output signal. It can be used in industrial and automotive applications.

Breakout Boards

Breakout boards are prototyping boards with the relevant component already soldered, with connections brought out to easily usable pins in terms of pitch and termination; generally, the connections are 2.54 mm pitch pads, like those of classic DIP integrated circuits. To help those who would like to use SMD components but lack the means or skills to solder them, a number of integrated circuits (including sensors, switching power supplies, battery chargers, linear amplifiers, etc.) have been identified and mounted on ready-to-use boards. These breakout boards are both an aid for those who want the best of SMD electronics already available in a “traditional” format, and for those who—even if able to work with SMD components—need to have such components available on prototyping boards to apply them to existing circuits and run tests, or to build prototypes that integrate the functions of the relevant ICs before designing the final PCB of a device.
