Ultrasonic distance sensor 2 to 450 cm

Ultrasonic sensor able to measure distances between 2 and 450 cm

SKU 2846-MISDIST04EAN 8219671060141Item type: Assembled,

Description

Ultrasonic sensor capable of measuring distances between 2 and 450 cm. It consists of two 40 kHz ultrasonic capsules (one transmitter and one receiver) and the control electronics. It has four pins: two for power (Vcc and Gnd), one pin for the trigger pulse input (Trig), and one pin for the echo pulse output (Echo). By providing a positive pulse of 10 µs to the “Trigger” input pin, the sensor generates a train of eight ultrasonic pulses at 40 kHz; these pulses are sent toward the obstacle via the transmitting capsule, the receiving capsule detects the echo, and on the “Echo” output pin there will be a pulse with a duration from 150 µs (2 cm) to 25 ms (4.5 m) proportional to the distance of the object. If no obstacle is detected within 4.5 m, it produces a pulse of about 38 ms. The formula to calculate the distance in cm is: pulse in µs divided by 58, while in inches it is: pulse in µs divided by 148.
