Description

This power latch feeds the external circuit you want to power, allowing that circuit to keep itself powered and/or to switch itself off once it has finished its work. It behaves like a self-holding relay, but solid state, and it handles a wide range of DC voltages from 5 to 30 volt. It is ideal for powering electronic devices and circuits, logic ones in particular, which once activated can keep themselves on for as long as they need.

Compatible with Arduino, this latch is perfect for DIY projects and automation applications. Thanks to that compatibility it is easy to build into your own Arduino-controlled electronic projects.

This kind of circuit is very useful because it lets you switch a device’s power on or off at the press of a single button, and it draws next to no power while idle.

The product is supplied with instructions for use and without pin strips, which can be purchased separately.

The power latch can be used to switch on an Arduino board, which in turn can drive a circuit of any kind; the example sketch ( available at the foot of this page ) is set up to take a Digital Output high when power arrives and to let it fall back to zero once it has done its job, that is once an event has occurred – reading data from a sensor and sending it over the serial port or a wireless interface, for instance. Please note! Arduino board not included, available separately.
