Two-way remote control system, based on the SIMCom A7682E GSM/4G module, which uses the GSM network for switching and monitoring. All settings are made by SMS or locally from a PC (through the optional FT782M interface), and it has two relay outputs working in monostable or bistable mode plus two opto-isolated alarm inputs.

Up to 8 numbers can be stored for sending alarms. Setting up and configuring is done by SMS; the outputs and the status of the inputs can be handled not only by SMS but also with DTMF commands, sent through a protected voice call. Protection is by caller ID recognition and/or by entering a password.

Power supply between 9 and 32 Vdc, maximum draw 1 A. The package includes the device, already assembled and tested, with the A7682E GSM/4G module and a whip-style GSM antenna with connecting cable.

Important! To use the call service in areas covered by 4G on the LTE network you need a SIM card with data and voice traffic compatible with VoLTE. technology. Check with your mobile operator that this technology is available on the SIM you are using. Without that service the remote control unit would work in SMS mode only.

The SIMCom 4G module
The GSM/4G module marked A7682E is made by SIMCom: it is essentially a Quad-band GSM/GPRS and 4G/LTE compatible mobile phone without display, microphone, loudspeaker or keypad, working on the 850/900/1800/1900MHz bands and usable both for Internet access and for voice communication, ordinary phone calls and SMS.

It comes in a 19.6×19.6×2.4 mm LCC+LGA package, with the contacts underneath the body, which means it has to be soldered with hot air or in dedicated reflow soldering machines.
The SIMCom A7682E is an LTE Cat 1 module supporting the LTE-FDD/GSM/GPRS/EDGE wireless communication modes; more precisely, LTE-FDD B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20. It supports a maximum downlink speed of 10 Mbps and an uplink speed of 5 Mbps. In EDGE mode the speeds are Uplink/Downlink up to 236.8 kbps and in GPRS Uplink/Downlink up to 85.6 kbps.

The A7682E uses a form factor compatible with the SIM800C and the SIM868 series (GSM/GPRS modules), which makes migration from 2G devices to LTE ones straightforward and greatly simplifies design work.
The A7682E module supports the built-in TCP, IP, IPV4, IPV6,Multi-PDP, FTP, FTPS, HTTP, HTTPS and DNS network protocols, as well as the SSL communication security protocol.

Drivers are available for the main operating systems (USB drivers for Microsoft Windows 7/8/10, Linux and Android). It has RIL support for Android 5.0/6.0/7.0/8.0/9.0 and firmware updating over USB/FOTA.
The AT commands are compatible with the SIM800 series modules, so both the standard ATs and most of those in SIMCom’s own enhanced AT set.
On top of that the A7682E carries the main industry-standard interfaces, with powerful expandability, including UART, USB 2.0, I²C-Bus and GPIO, suited to the main IOT applications such as telematics, surveillance devices, industrial routers, remote diagnostics and so on. The module runs on a DC voltage between 3.4 and 4.2 V (typically 3.8V) and draws at most 0.8 A while transmitting.

  • The device does not answer messages. When a message is sent, the LEDs give no sign that it has been received
    Check that there is credit on the SIM of the remote control unit. If there is credit, turn off RCS chat on your smartphone. To turn RCS chat off, go to “Messages > Message settings > Char RCS” (if you cannot find this menu, refer to your phone’s own guide for how to disable the feature).
