Description

This thermal switch NO 120°C is a protective device designed to monitor and manage overheating in electrical circuits. The term “NO” (Normally Open) means that the switch contact is open under normal conditions and closes when the temperature reaches the value of 120°C. This makes it possible to cut off the current flow to the circuit and prevent damage caused by an excessive rise in temperature.

The device has a sensitive thermal element that detects the ambient temperature and, once the 120°C threshold is passed, triggers the contact closing mechanism. As soon as the temperature falls below the critical value, the contact reopens automatically, allowing the circuit to be restored.

The thermal switch NO 120°C is commonly used in applications where electric motors, electronic equipment, battery power supplies and electrical installations have to be protected from damage caused by high temperatures. It is particularly useful in devices working in places with wide temperature swings or that could overheat because of a fault.

Applications
  • Control of fans or cooling systems
The switch closes the circuit when 120 °C is reached, automatically switching on fans or cooling systems.
  • Thermal warning (LED or buzzer)
Used to trigger visual or audible signals (e.g. LED or buzzer) warning that the temperature threshold has been passed.
  • Logic input for microcontrollers
It can provide an input signal to a microcontroller when the temperature threshold is passed.
  • Switching loads according to temperature
Fitted in a circuit where a component is to be switched on only when the temperature goes above 120 °C (e.g. heating elements, relays, indicators, etc.).
Technical specifications
  • Sensor material:
Bimetal: the sensor is made up of two metals with different thermal expansion coefficients; when the activation temperature is reached, the bending of the bimetallic strip opens or closes the electrical contact.
  • Reset: automatic (when the temperature falls below the threshold value)
