Description

The X4PRO LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging, or Laser Imaging Detection and Ranging) is an advanced device used to create accurate 3D maps, for advanced robot navigation, obstacle detection and many other applications. This innovative unit carries a class 1 LASER, a photodetector with optics, and control electronics that include a PC interface.
Main features of the X4 LIDAR
  • 360-degree rotation: the top of the X4 LIDAR turns continuously, driven by a brushless motor, for a complete scan of the surrounding area.
  • Precise LASER pulses: it constantly fires LASER pulses which, reflected by objects and surfaces, return accurate information on distance and on the nature of the material hit.
  • Real-time display: with the PointCloudViewer software you can watch a 3D map of the obstacles in real time straight on your PC.
  • Easy to interface: the X4 LIDAR is supplied fully assembled and tested, with a USB-micro USB cable and PC interface included. It is also easy to interface with microcontrollers for driving robots and other applications.
Applications of the X4 LIDAR
  • 3D maps: creating detailed three-dimensional models for all sorts of purposes.
  • Robotics: autonomous navigation and obstacle detection for robots.
  • Safety and surveillance: monitoring areas to detect the presence of objects or people.
  • Industrial automation: use in industrial environments to improve efficiency and safety.
Key features
  • Omnidirectional 360-degree scanning; adaptive scan rate 6-12 Hz
  • Scan rate up to 5000 Hz
  • Stable and accurate distance measurement
  • Wide detection range, not less than 10 metres
  • High immunity to ambient light interference
  • Industrial-grade motor drive, stable performance
  • Class I LASER, compliant with safety standards
Package contents
    • X4PRO LIDAR
      • The X4PRO has a built-in motor for despin control and motor control.
    • USB Type-C cable
      • To be used with the USB adapter board to connect the X4PRO to the PC. The USB cable acts both as the power cable and as the data cable.
    • USB adapter board
      • It performs the USB to UART conversion, making the connection between the X4PRO and the PC quick and easy. The DTR signal of the serial port controls the despin of the X4PRO motor. A Micro USB power input (PWR) is also provided for auxiliary supply.
    • Cable for connection to Arduino or other microcontrollers
      • A dedicated cable to connect the X4PRO to an Arduino or other microcontrollers, for easy integration and control of the device.

Note: the USB adapter board has two USB TYPE C ports: USB_DATA and USB_PWR. USB_DATA is a powered data port. In most cases this port alone covers both the power and the communication requirements. USB_PWR is an auxiliary power input. The USB port on some development platforms has a weak current capability; in that case the auxiliary supply can be used.
