MIDI Shield 2
SKU 6168-MIDISHIELD2EAN 8219671074896Item type: Kit, Shields & add-onsArduino, Arduino compatible
Description
Thanks to the MIDI Shield, Arduino can access the powerful MIDI communication protocol, allowing you to control synthesizers, sequencers, and other musical devices. The MIDI protocol shares many similarities with standard asynchronous serial interfaces, so you can use Arduino’s UART pins to send and receive MIDI event messages. The shield features an optoisolated MIDI input connected to Arduino’s RX pin, a MIDI output connected to the TX pin, and two potentiometers connected to analog pins 1 and 2 (which can be used to control volume, tone, timbre, or anything else). It also has three push buttons (connected to D2, D3, and D4), a reset button, and two status LEDs (green and red). The shield is supplied assembled except for the potentiometers, connectors, and the three push buttons. Dimensions (mm): 54×60. Note: the strips needed to mount the shield on Arduino are not included.
