Description

I/O expansion board with 16 outputs based on Microchip’s MCP23017 IC, capable of communicating with Arduino via the I2C bus using dedicated libraries. Thanks to the 3-way DIP switch mounted on the board, up to 8 I/O boards can be connected in parallel to the I2C bus. Power supply: 5Vdc via the Arduino board.

The library to use is the one from Adafruit and allows you to handle the 16 added I/Os with the same approach as Arduino pins, so you can define each individual pin as input or output and also read or write the digital value with functions similar to Arduino’s basic ones.
