Description

Additional information
PLA, polylactic acid, is a material of biological origin, obtained by polymerising lactic acid. The acid comes from corn starch and sugar cane, and the material is biodegradable under the right climatic and environmental conditions. For 3D printing it has some interesting properties, such as a melting temperature of around 160 degrees, which rises according to any other components added for colouring, and greater plasticity. PLA is spreading fast as a printing material, both for its particularly attractive colours and transparencies and for the smaller number of problems it causes while printing. Parts made in PLA are nonetheless strong enough to be used to build printer parts.
