Description

Torpedo2 is the new DC-DC converter that runs from a battery or from any other source delivering 6.5 to 18 Vdc, and puts out 5 V at a full 3 amps! It has three power sources: USB, LiPo battery and external; a wide input voltage window, from 6.5 to 18 volts; output current up to a maximum of 3 amps; high efficiency, even above 85-90%; a built-in charger for single LiPo cells; changeover from battery to another source with no break in the output; a 5 volt output that stays steady as the load changes, with low ripple; the option of switching off just the output while the step-down converter and the charger keep working; the option of switching the output off automatically when power comes from the USB connector, which the specification limits to 500 mA; when a battery is fitted, the battery keeps the supply going; status LEDs showing the charge, which source is in use, whether the output is enabled and more besides.

Torpedo2 is the new DC-DC converter that can be powered by battery or any other source delivering from 6.5 to 18 VDC, capable of providing 5 V and a current of as much as 3 amps! It features a triple power source: USB, LiPo battery, and external; wide input voltage range: from 6.5 to 18 volts; output current up to a maximum of 3 amps; high efficiency, even above 85-90%; built-in charger for single LiPo cells; seamless transition from battery power to another source without interruption; 5-volt output with high stability under varying load and low ripple; ability to turn off only the output while keeping the step-down converter and charging active; ability to automatically disable the output if power comes from the USB connector, which is limited by specification to 500 mA of current; if a battery is present, power is guaranteed from it; status LEDs indicating charging, the power source in use, output enable, and more.

By connecting a solar panel to Torpedo’s input and equipping it with a LiPo battery, you get a practically eternal power source, very useful for example in remote sensors where replacing batteries or running power cables is difficult. Thus, a perfect Energy Harvesting solution.
