| The Meteo Shield is a board for Arduino designed to measure and display the main weather parameters: temperature, relative humidity and atmospheric pressure. The board is built around three analogue sensors: an MCP9700A for temperature, an HIH-5030-001 for relative humidity and an MPXH6115A6U for absolute atmospheric pressure.
These sensors were chosen for their accuracy and their reasonable price. They are also widely used parts that are easy to find on the market, which puts this weather station within reach of anyone with little experience in choosing components. The Meteo Shield also includes an RTC (Real Time Clock) based on the Maxim DS1307 chip. This part lets you log the weather data with an accurate time stamp, so you can reconstruct the history of the weather conditions over time. The board works with an LCD display that shows the sensor readings in real time, giving the user a convenient interface. Thanks to its flexibility, the Meteo Shield is easy to customise and extend with further Arduino boards, letting you build a complete and versatile weather station. In short, the Meteo Shield is an excellent starting point for anyone who wants to build a custom weather station with Arduino, with the option of expanding and tailoring the platform as they please. Please note: the board is supplied with all the SMD parts already fitted, while the remaining components (header strips, battery holder, etc.) have to be soldered by the customer. |
