Description

Shield for Raspberry Pi based on the DRV8825 stepper motor driver and the ULN2003 line-driver chip. This shield can manage a stepper motor and also has two digital outputs for controlling other loads. The DRV8825 driver allows you to set the rotation direction of the motor shaft and the number of degrees the motor rotor must turn upon receiving each command; in other words, we can decide whether, when we give it a command pulse, the module should rotate the shaft one step at a time, or 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, or 1/32, depending on the desired accuracy. For each command line of the driver, it is possible to choose (via jumpers) three GPIO lines; this gives you the possibility to mount multiple shields on the Raspberry Pi 2 and thus manage other applications, besides the scanner, but also to use the shield as a generic controller for other uses and perhaps drive two or three stepper motors (in that case, it is necessary to use different GPIOs for the various boards).
