GSM/GPRS Module with TTS
SKU 8170-SIM800FEAN 8219671101141Item type: AssembledGSM/GPRS
Description
| The SIM800F is a GSM/GPRS module Quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz able to transmit voice, SMS and data at low power consumption.
The SIM800F has built-in speech synthesis, handles DTMF tones without any external decoder, and offers TTS, that is, reading out the words it receives through specific AT commands. The voice used for the synthesis can be “tuned” by setting its volume, pitch and speaking rate. |
| TTS (Text To Speech) technology |
| The technology that lets our telephone dialler speak is genuine speech synthesis, which in its general form makes it possible to pronounce words that the device receives in text form: TTS in fact stands for Text To Speech, literally “from text to speech”. So a computer or other device sends the words to be spoken and the TTS device turns them into speech; they can be sent as ASCII characters over a serial data channel of various kinds, or in some other form. In our case, the technology has been implemented in a quad-band cellular module from SIMCom, part number SIM800F, fitted with built-in TTS. The module can both speak the words it receives as text in an SMS or in a serial command, and send the corresponding audio down the line during a phone call. |
