This MicroSD Card Reader module is a microSD card reader built around a microcontroller with an SPI interface and a file system driver. Together they let you read and write files on the microSD card simply and efficiently.

The module is especially handy for Arduino users, since it can be driven straight from the Arduino integrated development environment (IDE). The IDE provides a dedicated library to initialise the microSD card and to read and write files.

The library included with the Arduino IDE supports the FAT16 and FAT32 file systems, so you can reach the files on the microSD card easily from Arduino.

The MicroSD Card Adapter module is not limited to Arduino, either. Thanks to its SPI interface it can also be used with other microcontrollers or devices that can talk to an SD card. That gives you more freedom and lets you fit it into different development environments.

  • Control interface:

  • 3.3V voltage regulator circuit:
    The module includes a linear voltage regulator (LDO) that supplies 3.3V to the level shifting chip and to the microSD card.
  • Level shifting circuit:
    The signals coming from the microSD card are converted to 3.3V, as is the MISO signal coming from the microSD card to the control interface. This lets a general AVR microcontroller system read the signals correctly.
