Pick and place head for the “ROBOARM” robotic arm
SKU 7100-PEPARMEAN 8219671099134Item type: KitActuators
Description
| Made up of a small vacuum pump, a solenoid valve, a microswitch, cables, tubing and a suction cup, this kit gives the “ROBOARM” robotic arm (not included – see related products) a system for picking up and releasing small objects. It goes on in place of the gripper and can turn at wrist level thanks to the 1.2 kg•cm servo fitted to the arm, so the part picked up can be rotated when needed. The system is built around a suction cup with a hole in the centre, connected to an extractor (a small vacuum pump) through a three-way solenoid valve that switches the cup either to the pump or to a vent; the vent releases the object being held straight away. The suction cup is carried on a spring-loaded stem, which gives a soft grip should the arm press harder than it needs to on the object being picked up. |

| ARDUINO RC SERVO CONTROL SHIELD (not included – see related products) | |
| To run the robotic arm with the pick and place system, a shield was used that lets Arduino drive the servos through its PWM outputs, and also read the analogue signal of the potentiometer if you decide to use position-feedback servos, the ones that bring out the signal of the potentiometer on the output shaft.
That is extremely useful for precision positioning, for instance, because it lets you correct errors or tolerances caused by play in the joints, but also teach movements so as to build sequences to be replayed later on automatically; teaching is done by moving the arm to the wanted positions by hand, recording them and then putting them into firmware that repeats those movements, aiming at the rotation angles of the servos involved. |
