SIM928A GSM/GPRS/GPS Wireless Module

Description

The SIM928A is a module that integrates a quad-band GSM/GPRS and a GPS in a single enclosure. The cellular section is GSM/GPRS type and can operate on GSM 850 MHz as well as on the 900 MHz (EGSM), DCS 1,800 MHz and PCS 1,900 MHz bands. The module supports GPRS multi-slot classes 10 and 8 and coding schemes CS-1, CS-2, CS-3 and CS-4. The cellular power is class 4 (2W) in GSM 850 and EGSM 900, and class 1 (1W) in DCS 1800 and PCS 1900. As for the GPS part, it has 132 channels and offers excellent performance in terms of Time To First Fix (TTFF): 1 second in hot start and 28 s in cold start. Sensitivity is -148 dBm in normal mode and -167 dBm in tracking, and the refresh rate is as high as 1 Hz, which means positioning data (accurate to less than 2.5 meters) is updated every second. In terms of connectivity, this superb module has two UARTs (UART and UART1) for serial communication and also integrates TCP/IP functionality and extended AT commands to manage it. Its very small size (30x30x3 mm) allows developing very compact devices such as trackers, GSM phone combiners, remote controls, remote alarms, etc. The module is surface-mount (SMT), so it requires no connector.
