Description

Printed circuit board measuring 45ร—50 mm: it carries the SIMCom A7682E GSM/4G cellular module, the antenna socket and the SIM holder.

It has two pin strips for the connections to the remote-control base board: a 3-pin one and a 16-pin one. The first handles the digital supply (positive and negative) and the power-on control line (PWR), while the second connects every signal and communication line to and from the GSM module.

The SIMCom A7682E GSM/4G module can be interfaced with both Arduino and Raspberry Pi. Either device can be used to control the module and manage the communications.

The module is supplied with a whip-style GSM antenna and a connection cable.

To test the A7682E 4G module we wrote a sample Arduino sketch, available for download at the bottom of the page, which answers every incoming call automatically and lets you end the call (hang up) with the button wired to pin D5. Note that the GSM module communication lines work at the supply voltage, i.e. about 4V; for that reason, and to allow for tolerances, a level shifter between the GSM module and Arduino may be needed for reliable communication.
